Spay-abort is as touchy a subject as human abortions, but it is a necessary evil. When you have 30 cats sitting in traps waiting to be spayed and you consider each of them could have 4-7 kittens, none of which you can guarantee will be trapped later to spay/neuter, and the fetuses are little more than lima beans, things become more clear. However, sometimes strange things happen.
Yesterday we were performing a spay on a cat we were sure was pregnant. When the doc opened her up, she was literally a few days away from delivery. So he pulled the kittens out of the uterus one by one and I broke their sacs, clamped off cords and cut away placenta, then suctioned out their mouths. At lunch I went to the feed store and bought a bag of Substi-Mama to get them fed since their mother’s milk wasn’t ready.
So once again I have kittens. They’re still less than a day old but all are eating well, urinating and two out of five have had nice poops. So cute.

Here’s Strider watching SVU with little Wasabi. Well, falling asleep on the back of the couch with her is probably closer to the truth.

Mouseberry bush.
I don’t know what this is but I think I just puked a rainbow followed by a cat/poptart hybrid.
